Faucet repair in Winter Haven, FL, matched to the valve inside

Every faucet uses a cartridge, a ball, a disc or a compression stem. The right repair depends on which one you have.

Most calls for faucet repair in Winter Haven, FL trace back to the same culprit: hard water. Scale grinds at rubber seals, stiffens cartridges and packs the aerator until the stream sputters. We identify the brand and valve type first, so the replacement part is an exact match rather than a close guess that leaks again in a month.

Older lake homes near Lake Howard and downtown often still have two-handle compression faucets with seized stops below them. Newer houses between the lakes usually have single-lever pull-downs, which are easier to rebuild but fussier about genuine parts.

Outside, many Winter Haven yards lean on hose bibs for watering lawns and rinsing boats and fishing gear. A spigot that drips at the handle or will not shut fully wastes water every day, and we repair or replace those too.

Your options

Repair the faucet or replace it?

We give you an honest recommendation either way, with the price for each option.

Repair makes sense when

  • Parts for the model are still available
  • The body and finish are in good shape
  • Only one handle or the spout is dripping
  • You like the faucet and want to keep it

Replacement makes sense when

  • The base or body is cracked or corroded
  • Parts are discontinued or hard to source
  • Scale has damaged the valve seat itself
  • You want a pull-down or touchless upgrade

What faucet work costs

A cartridge swap and a full faucet installation are priced differently, and a seized stop under the sink adds to either one. Send us the brand or a photo and we can usually give a free phone estimate before we arrive. If the problem is the drain rather than the faucet, our Winter Haven sink plumbing page explains that side of the job.

Winter Haven questions

Faucet Repair & Installation in Winter Haven: common questions

Why is the water flow so weak from my Winter Haven faucet?

Usually the aerator at the tip of the spout is packed with mineral scale, or the cartridge inside has narrowed. Unscrew the aerator and rinse it; if flow comes back, scale was the cause. If it does not, the cartridge or a partly closed stop under the sink is the next suspect, and we can check both in one visit.

My faucet only drips when the handle is in one position. What does that mean?

It usually points to a worn seal or a cartridge that no longer seats evenly, often from scale. On a two-handle faucet, feel which side is warm to find the leaking valve. Replacing the cartridge or stem with the correct part typically stops it. Living with the drip lets it cut a groove in the valve seat.

Why does my outdoor spigot leak around the handle?

The packing behind the handle has worn or dried out, which is common on hose bibs that get heavy use for yard watering. Tightening the packing nut sometimes helps for a while. If the valve still drips from the spout when closed, the internal washer or the whole bib needs replacing.

Do you handle shower faucets as well as sink faucets?

Yes, although a dripping tub spout or shower head usually means work on the valve behind the wall. We rebuild or replace those cartridges and can explain the options on our shower and tub plumbing page for Winter Haven. For more general reading, see our faucet repair and installation overview.
