Behind the handle
Shower and tub plumbing in Dundee, FL usually comes down to the valve
The handle you turn is connected to a cartridge or valve that mixes hot and cold. When it wears, almost every shower complaint follows.
A worn cartridge causes drips from the head or spout, handles that are hard to turn and temperature that jumps when someone uses water elsewhere. Dundee's hard water speeds that wear, scaling the cartridge and clogging shower heads. Most shower and tub plumbing in Dundee, FL that we do starts with pulling the cartridge and seeing what minerals have done to it.
Not every problem is the valve. A slow drain is usually hair and soap in the trap, and water stains on a ceiling below a bathroom can come from a cracked drain, a failed pan or a leaking valve body. We work out which before suggesting any demolition.
For remodels, we rough in valves and drains to code so tile and glass go over plumbing you can trust. Our main shower and bathtub plumbing page covers the full range.

Dundee questions
Shower and Tub Plumbing in Dundee: common questions
Why does my shower go cold or hot when someone flushes a toilet?
Flushing draws cold water away from the shower, and an older valve without pressure balancing cannot compensate. A worn or scaled cartridge in a pressure-balancing valve can cause the same thing. Replacing the cartridge often fixes it; if the valve type cannot balance pressure, we can quote a modern replacement.
Can a shower valve be fixed without removing tile?
Usually, yes. Cartridges and most valve parts are reached from the front once the trim is removed. Opening the wall is only needed when the valve body itself is leaking or must be replaced, and even then access can sometimes be made from the other side of the wall.
What plumbing does a tub-to-shower conversion need?
The drain often has to move or be resized for a shower base, the valve may be raised to a comfortable height and the shower head arm relocated. We plan those changes before the old tub comes out so the new layout drains properly and the valve sits where you want it.
How can I keep shower heads from clogging in hard water?
Soak the head in vinegar every few months to dissolve mineral deposits, or choose a model with flexible rubber nozzles you can rub clean. If flow stays weak after cleaning, the restriction is likely in the cartridge or valve, which we can check.
