Know your pipe
Pipe repair in Tampa starts with what is behind the wall
Galvanized steel, copper, CPVC, PEX, cast iron and clay all fail differently. The right repair depends on which one you have.
Tampa's housing spans more than a century, so pipe repair in Tampa, FL can mean almost anything. A Seminole Heights bungalow may still have galvanized supply that has rusted shut on the inside. A mid-century ranch might have copper that has started to pinhole. Older drain lines across the city are often cast iron, which tends to crack along the bottom, or clay that lets roots in at every joint.
That is why our first job is identifying the material and its condition. A leak in one spot of galvanized or aging copper is often a symptom of wear across the whole run, and patching it may simply move the next leak a few feet down the line. On the other hand, a single damaged fitting on otherwise healthy pipe needs nothing more than a clean repair.
We keep wall and ceiling openings as small as practical and leave the work area clean.

Repipe materials
PEX or copper for a Tampa repipe
Both are sound choices. We explain the trade-offs for your house and price either one.
PEX
- Flexible, so it snakes through walls with fewer openings
- Fewer fittings in long runs
- Does not corrode or develop pinholes
- Must be kept out of direct sunlight
Copper
- Long track record in Florida homes
- Rigid, so it needs more access to install
- Handles heat and UV exposure well
- Can still pinhole over many years in some conditions

Tampa questions
Pipe Repair & Replacement in Tampa: common questions
How can I tell what kind of pipe my Tampa home has?
Check where pipe is visible: under sinks, at the water heater or where the main enters the house. Gray threaded pipe is usually galvanized, reddish-brown is copper, cream or tan plastic is often CPVC, and colored flexible tubing is PEX. A magnet sticks to galvanized but not copper. If you are not sure, we can identify it during a visit.
Should I repair or repipe an older Tampa house?
If leaks keep appearing in different places or pressure has dropped throughout the house, the pipe is likely worn end to end and repiping usually costs less over time than repeated repairs. If the system is otherwise sound, a spot repair is fine. We show you what we find and price both. Our leak detection team in Tampa can confirm hidden leaks first.
What should I do the moment a pipe bursts?
Shut off the main water valve, usually near the meter or where the line enters the house. Turn off the water heater if hot water lines are involved, move valuables away from the water and call (941) 541-7473. We answer 24 hours a day and can talk you through finding the shut-off while we are on the way.
